Netgift Announces Free Gift Registry Solution For e-Retailers
Gift Registry Technology Provider Wants To Create A Universal Standard In Registries
Wednesday, February 23, 2000
DURHAM, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 2000-- NetGift Registry announced today the release of its
unique new gift registry solution for
e-retailing websites.
NetGift's new turnkey registry offering, called Gift Registry In A Box, allows e-retailers to have a feature-rich,
highly customizable gift registry up and running on their site within a matter of days.
"This is just another step towards meeting NetGift's goal of becoming the universal standard in online gift
registries,'' said NetGift Chief Executive Officer Ed Fadel. "With this step of releasing our new registry solution,
we now have a gift registry platform that can work for e-retailers, shopping engines, and e-commerce areas
for destination sites without the site having to spend any money for its development.''
"What's more, unlike some other gift registry providers, with NetGift, the user won't have to click away to another
site,'' added Fadel. "Using our provided online tools, the e-retailer can also easily customize the registry to
have their look and feel by changing fonts, colors, buttons, graphics, nav-bars, footers, and more.''
Major e-retailers have seen the need for online gift registries and the potential for additional sales through
offering registries on their sites. Despite their relative newness, according to a recent survey by a national
computer magazine reported that around 27% of all online shoppers are already registered at one or more gift registries.
Internet analysts predict that the increase in registry use will continue. Forrester Research predicts that "registries
will become big business online'' and that gift registries will become the "next killer Internet application'' for
e-commerce services while Jupiter Communications believes that "gift registries will be the significant drivers
of gift sales.''
NetGift CEO Fadel said his company's registry system will give qualified e-retailers a quick and easy way to
provide their users with a full-featured, private label gift registry, without having to develop one themselves,
saving them a great deal of time and money.
"There simply is no better way for a website to get their own gift registry than to use NetGift's system,'' said
Fadel. "Our feature-rich solution is easy to implement within their website and it's even easy to choose the
level of customization that they want using our Wizard tools.''
Sites concerned about spending a lot of money to get a gift registry on their site don't have to be concerned about
NetGift. The registry system is being offered for free to qualified e-retailers.
"Even though we have spent considerable resources producing this feature-rich registry system, e-retailers
don't have to pay up front for it -- it's free for them to use the first year and after the first year they simply pay NetGift
a small commission from sales through the gift registry,'' said Fadel.
NetGift has already signed up many internet partners which are implementing NetGift's unique technology
into their own websites. One of the largest NetGift partners that will launch soon with the new Gift Registry
In A Box solution in place is Homestead.com. Homestead.com is the leading online source for building free
websites with over 2.5 million websites and 10,000 new ones added every day. NetGift's gift registry technology
will be featured as one of Homestead's "drag and drop'' elements in Homestead's easy-to-use web site builder.
The Homestead Gift Registry, powered by NetGift, brings customers more than 3 million gift selections from
350 online name-brand retailers. Consumers can identify the exact items they want -- ranging from a Sega
Dreamcast at BuyGames.com all the way to a Holley Marine Carburetor from Overtons -- and share them securely
with a Gift Circle of friends and family.
