NetGift Registry To Power Gift Registries on the Network Commerce Consumer Network
NetGift Registry's solution will power gift lists across Network Commerce's Consumer Network
Research Triangle Park, NC - June 28, 2000
In a recently-signed deal with Network Commerce Inc. (NASDAQ: NWKC),
NetGift Registry announced today that it will begin installing a private-label
gift registry service that will be integrated into the Network Commerce Consumer Network.
The Network Commerce Consumer Network is comprised of ShopNow.com (http://www.shopnow.com),
a leading shopping network and directory featuring over 60,000 merchants and over 9,400 affiliate sites;
BottomDollar.com (http://www.bottomdollar.com), a comparison shopping network with over 2,300 affiliate sites;
and SpeedyClick.com (http://www.speedyclick.com), a leading commerce-enabled entertainment community with over
8,200 affiliate sites. The registry has already been integrated on BottomDollar.com and ShopNow.com.
"This deal extends the momentum that NetGift has gained in the past few months,"
said NetGift CEO Raanan Lachman. "After releasing our gift registry solution only a couple of months ago,
NetGift has made great leaps forward by signing deals to provide our registry solution to Internet leaders
such as Network Commerce, whose presence across the web is enormous."
"With NetGift Registry, we expect to drive additional business to the thousands of merchants and businesses
on our consumer network and to provide a value-added service to shoppers," said Anne-Marie Savage,
executive vice president of Network Commerce. "We believe the NetGift Registry will be a valuable
resource for consumers and will drive more leads and orders to our merchants."
The NetGift Registry allows shoppers to create a gift list from merchants on the Network Commerce Consumer Network.
Shoppers, as well as their friends and family, can then easily return to that gift list later on to conveniently
purchase items directly from the gift list anywhere in the network.
"This service allows high-traffic destination sites like ShopNow.com or BottomDollar.com,
for instance, to offer their own branded gift registry to their users," added Raanan Lachman,
CEO of NetGift Registry. "In addition, we believe our technology offers enormous value to Network Commerce partners."
"NetGift is different than any other online registry -- the key to our success has been the fact that we realized
the shopper wants to use their gift registry where they normally shop and spend time on the Internet instead
of having to click away to a third-party site," said Lachman.
"By giving e-retailers, portals, destination sites, and other online shopping environments their own private-label registries,
we are creating a new industry standard-- a networked gift registry that retains each site's unique look and feel."
Lachman said that Network Commerce is an attractive partner because of their leadership role as a provider of an end-to-end solution which
enables businesses to engage in e-commerce with other businesses,
merchants and shoppers. Lachman also cited Network Commerce's recent growth as another key factor
in NetGift's decision to affiliate with them. In the first quarter of 2000,
visits to the company's combined networks increased 158 percent, over 55.4 million,
which is a significant increase from the 21.5 million visits logged during 1999's fourth quarter.
For the month of May 2000, PC Data Online ranked Network Commerce's networks as the 21st most visited
web property on the Internet.
